Therapists

Lana Standard, LCSW, CADC

I am the founder and President of Root+Bloom, and a therapist working with adult individuals, couples and families.

In my clinical work, I help clients explore their past and current life experiences, the way in which relationships have shaped those experiences, and the way in which their life experiences manifest in their bodies. I work with my clients to help them develop coping mechanisms and a mind-body connection that can facilitate healing. Where words fail to fully describe the experience of trauma, I help my clients discover and release pain and obstacles stored in the body.

My style is welcoming, warm, authentic and non-judgmental. I hold space for my clients as they are. It is in this safe space that my clients can reflect on their lives, develop new understandings, rework associations and build better coping mechanisms.

I work with clients to heal individual and intergenerational trauma as it presents in their lives as:

·       Depression
·       Anxiety
·       Addictions
·       Grief and loss
·       Trauma bonding
·       Adrenal fatigue
·       Hormonal imbalance
·       Chronic stress
·       Bipolar Disorder
·       Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
·       Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
·       Borderline Personality Disorder
·       Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the State of Illinois. I am also an Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) trained psychotherapist. Before opening my private practice, I have worked as a clinical social worker across multiple levels of mental health care including in-patient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and individual outpatient care for patients with addictions, mood disorders, depression and anxiety. I have supervised LCP and LSW therapists in hospital and private practice settings. I am studying trauma-informed yoga and somatic experience psychotherapy methods.

I hold a Master in Social Work degree from Loyola University in Chicago. I have completed a Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 training and have also been trained in trauma-informed Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

Dr. Michael Gold, LSW, PsyD, MA, MA

I help adult individuals and couples through major life transitions for themselves, their relationships and their work. In therapy I help you understand what you are feeling, so you can come up with ways to better cope and problem-solve during challenging times, develop a stronger sense of identity, develop and exercise self-compassion, and develop insight into unhelpful patterns. In doing so, you can improve your psychological well-being, achieve your goals, and live a more fulfilling life. I believe you are the only expert in your own life, so my role is to help you discover the best way for you to navigate this transition.

My style is warm, supportive, patient, and non-judgmental. Based on your needs, I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing (MI), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

I help people with many types of major life transitions including:

Personal transitions:
·       aging,
·       coping with illness,
·       questioning your identity,
·       coping after a trauma.

Relationship transitions:
·       beginning or ending a relationship,
·       beginning or ending a marriage,
·       coping with infidelity,
·       empty nesting,
·       coping with the death of a loved one.

Work transitions:
·       starting a new job or business,
·       promotions,
·       job loss,
·       career changes,
·       retirement.

I am a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Illinois. I also hold a Master of Arts degree in Social Work from University of Chicago. I have completed a Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 training.
